01. The Sentinel™ Scoring Framework
Every system indexed in the HeliaTech Radar receives an empirical Sentinel Score (0–100). Scores are not arbitrary opinions; they are computed via a standardized weighted multi-variable matrix:
Multi-region TTFB, API endpoint latency distribution (p50, p95, p99), Cold-start overhead, WebSocket throughput under 500+ concurrent connections, and 90-day status incident history.
Public vs. hidden seat minimums, egress bandwidth penalties, contract renewal lock-in clauses, usage overage multipliers, and real-world TCO verified against 140+ enterprise quote submissions.
SOC2 Type II audit report availability, GDPR/HIPAA compliance, SAML/SSO tax policies (whether SSO requires 3x higher enterprise tiers), granular RBAC, and data residency choices (EU/US).
SDK quality (TypeScript, Python, Go), comprehensive OpenAPI specifications, sandbox/mock environments, webhook reliability, and speed of programmatic integration.
First-party integrations, webhook streaming, data export ease without proprietary lock-in, and compatibility with workflow orchestration engines (n8n, Make, Zapier).
02. Test Protocols & Telemetry Verification
Unlike user-review aggregators that rely on self-reported subjective impressions, HeliaTech grounds technical claims in standardized testing:
- Standardized Benchmarking: Network latency and TTFB tests are conducted from isolated Cloudflare Edge / AWS multi-region test nodes over 7-day trailing windows.
- Pricing Forensics: When quoting pricing ranges or contract negotiation leak discounts, our research desk references verified enterprise redlines, RFP responses, and anonymous quotes submitted by verified CTOs and procurement directors.
- Deal Verification Cadence: Promotional perks and coupon codes listed under our Deals directory are manually verified or programmatically pinged every 48 hours. If a code expires or vendor terms shift, it is immediately flagged or decommissioned.
03. Strict Editorial Firewall & Monetization Policy
Our Core Non-Negotiable Charter
HeliaTech never sells scores, rankings, or positive reviews. A vendor cannot pay to increase its Sentinel score, alter its position in our Versus arena, or remove critical architectural trade-offs.
How HeliaTech Is Funded
HeliaTech operates as an independent tech media organization. To sustain our full-time engineering and benchmarking operations, we rely on two transparent revenue streams:
When readers click qualifying links to inspect software and subsequently subscribe, HeliaTech may receive an affiliate referral commission. This occurs at zero additional cost to the buyer (and frequently unlocks discounted partner rates). These partnerships have zero bearing on whether a tool receives a high or low Sentinel score.
Companies may purchase clearly labeled advertising slots, such as newsletter sponsorships or discrete display banners. All commercial placements carry a visible "SPONSORED" tag and are strictly cordoned off from our organic testing database.
04. Calculator Assumptions & Margin Modeling

• Baseline Hypotheses: Legacy software rates reflect median list tier costs (e.g. Zapier Team/Company tiers, Apollo Custom seats). Modern alternative costs reflect transparent API usage and base licenses.
• Activity Multiplier: Calculated at 10% operational volume scaling, reflecting typical monthly recurring transaction volume.
• Uncertainty Range: Actual enterprise procurement outcomes vary ±15% based on multi-year contract prepayments, customized seat discounting, and bespoke SLA commitments. Figures are indicative models, not binding quotes.
05. Vendor Right of Response & Re-Audit Protocol
We believe in complete factual accuracy. If an executive or engineering team at an audited company identifies an out-of-date pricing tier, a resolved security vulnerability, or an inaccurate latency metric:

3. If substantiated, metrics and editorial copy are updated immediately with a timestamped correction note.
